Roundtable discussion: Photography, a Tool for Emancipation in South Africa

Rubis Mécénat is celebrating in 2017 the fifth anniversary of its socio-cultural project Of Soul and Joy, a platform for teaching photography based in Thokoza, one of Johannesburg’s townships in South Africa. To mark this anniversary, Rubis Mécénat organizes a roundtable within the frame of the festival PhotoSaintGermain on the theme Photography, a Tool for Emancipation in South Africa on 09 November 2017 at the Hôtel de l’Industrie in Paris.

Round table discussion by Bieke Depoorter, Belgian photographer, member of Magnum Photos and Of Soul and Joy mentor and Roger Ballen, American photographer living in South Africa, and John Fleetwood, independent curator and Director of the platform Photo: in South Africa. Discussion led by Jeanne Mercier, critic and curator of the platform Afrique in visu.
