10:10

Photo: hosted the first of a series of its 10:10 platform on 14 Nov 2016.

10:10 is a presentation format where 10 photographers have not more than 10 minutes each to present and talk about their work. Relying on peer review the 10:10 format aims to break the ice, as an informal gathering with selected observers which in this first series included Michael Famighetti and Brendan Wattenburg (Aperture Magazine), Laurie Chevrot (Institute Français South Africa), Georg Gatsas (Swiss photographer) and Mika Conradie (Curator/ Writer).

There are a few possibilities for emerging and practicing photographers to test new ideas and to develop (and sustain) new bodies of work, build further personal and critical skills and receive critical feedback. Photo: wants to develop such platforms through a series of interactions called 10:10 and 10:X.

Along with 10:10, 10:X is a more in-depth week-long encounter with 10 photographers presenting work in critique sessions with feedback from a range of experts. Whereas the 10:10 aims to break the ice, as an informal gathering with colleagues, the10:X is a more developed form of mentorship towards critique.
