Five Photographers. A tribute to David Goldblatt” reflects on this world-renowned photographer and South African icon’s contribution to photography by looking at a new generation of photographers. This exhibition, one of the last projects that Goldblatt worked on, was developed as a tribute exhibition by the French Institut of South Africa to celebrate Goldblatt’s retrospective exhibition at the Centre Pompidou, Paris in Feb-May 2018. David Goldblatt and John Fleetwood curated the exhibition.

Following the presentation of this exhibition at the Gerard Sekoto Gallery, Alliance Française in Johannesburg (May 2018) and at theCentro Cultural Franco-Moçambicano in Mozambique (Feb 2019), Café What?, Maseru, Lesotho (May 2019), National Arts Festival, Makhanda (Jun 2019), “Five Photographers. A tribute to David Goldblatt” includes a powerful series of work by each of the photographers: Alexia Webster(SA), Jabulani Dhlamini(SA), Mauro Vombe(Mozambique) and Pierre Crocquet(SA). The exhibition title references David as another photographer.
