Centres of Learning for Photography in Africa (CLPA) showcase 19 photographers' work at Photo Vogue Festival 2021
The Centres of Learning for Photography in Africa (CLPA) has been selected to showcase 19 of its photographers at the 6th edition of the Photo Vogue Festival 2021 in Milan, Italy.
This year’s theme is REFRAMING HISTORY: “an exploration of projects that aim to present an alternative view, reinventing neglected historical figures or questioning stereotyped narratives. Helping in achieving what Chinua Achebe called “a balance of stories” is one of the founding missions of the platform PhotoVogue, which celebrates its 10th anniversary. Human beings are storytelling animals: the stories we tell are not just a way of representing the world, they become the very world we inhabit. There's a great African proverb that Achebe often quotes, that says "until the lions have their own historians, the history of the hunt will always glorify the hunter." This edition of the festival is looking at the lions' stories.”
Photo Vogue Festival will go live on its digital platform 18 November 2021, and the exhibitions will take place at BASE Milano, Milan, from 18- 21 November 2021. All talks will be recorded and streamed on the digital platform.
