Tierney Fellowship Award recipient Tshepiso Mazibuko

The 2017 Tierney Fellowship at the Market Photo Workshop, in partnership with the Tierney Family Foundation, was awarded to Market Photo Workshop’s alumnus Tshepiso Mazibuko. The aim of the Tierney Fellowship is to provide an emerging photographer with the opportunity to develop their career and skills through a mentorship programme, an ideal space for a photographer to develop a body of work.

Photo: Director, John Fleetwood, was the guest presenter at Re:Think, Photography Educators Conference at the Landskrona Foto Festival, Sweden, with Lotte Sprengers (Royal Academy of Art, The Hague, NL) and moderator, Rebecca Simons (Independent curator and educator, FI). He also participated as a reviewer for the Landskrona Festival Portfolio Reviews.

In Memory of David Goldblatt

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David Goldblatt, a photographer whose life’s work documented the impact of the structural divide of Apartheid and its legacy in South Africa. He developed a critical position not just on the subject but an unflinching position in his mode in photography.

Goldblatt was a world-renowned photographer and he will be remembered by the many photographers who he mentored and engaged with to re-write the country’s narratives in telling our own stories. His memory lives on through the work of all of those who have passed through the Market Photo Workshop.
