10:10

Photo: and the Photography Education Trust hosted the fourth 10:10 platform on 29 Aug 2018 in Johannesburg.

10:10 is an interaction format dedicated to creating the possibility for emerging and practicing photographers to test new project ideas, to develop bodies of work, build further personal and critical skills and receive critical feedback.

The presentation is an ice-breaker - 10 photographers are invited, each have 10 minutes to present and talk about their work. Other than peer response, expert respondents are invited to give feedback and guidance.

Photo: was pleased to include Gabrielle Goliath (Artist), Juan Orrantia (Photographer & Educator), Simon Gush (Artist) and John Fleetwood as the respondents.

The photographers were:

Bianca van Heerden
Brett Rubin
Lerato Dumse
Lindokuhle Sobekwa
Miora Rajaonary
Oratile Konopi
Sibusiso Bheka
Wikus de Wet
Xoliswa Ngwenya

Along with 10:10, 10:X is a more in-depth encounter with 10 photographers and content experts presenting work in critique sessions with feedback from a range of respondents to facilitate critical discussion and meaningful content production. Whereas the 10:10 aims to break the ice, as an informal gathering with colleagues, the10:X is a more developed form of critique.

Next 10:X is 10:Queer, starting in Oct 2018:

10:Queer is a collaborative platform initiative developed by Photo: to facilitate critical discussion and meaningful content production on queer social practice. Invited participants will include photographers and other professionals who operate within the field of queer practice in Southern Africa, today.
